Organic food and products have been around since pre-history. For many thousands of years, we didn’t have man made pesticides, plastics or petrochemicals. The arrival of intensive farming methods has resulted in the invention of many man made chemicals. Whilst some have been positive, many have been inherently negative. History is potted with incidents of ‘safe’ manmade products that have proven later to fall short.
The Soil Association is a registered charity that is the most recognised and highly regarded UK certifier of organic food and products. They started life in the late 1940’s and as well as certifying goods against very strict organic standards they also run several related campaigns (https://www.soilassociation.org/our-campaigns/) and of course have many blogs.
Take a look; surely this has got to be a better way? The benefits of organic products are mutual and long lasting, not just for us and future generations, but also for the world we share with the rest of nature.
