A European Parliament report commissioned by MEP’s finds that pesticides can cause brain damage and organic food is the future in avoiding this.
Last year MEP’s from the European Parliament asked their scientific experts to review the known research on pesticides with regards long terms effects and concluded that an estimated 13 million IQ points are lost each year as a result of pesticides. They noted that food grown organically is a great deal lower in chemicals and is the best way forward for avoiding the problems these chemicals cause.
In addition the UN council recently announced that pesticides are not needed to meet to meet the world food needs, calling for a move towards more sustainable production that organic food offers. The UN rejected claims made by the chemicals companies as no more than myth not based on any facts. The UN sighted inequitable production and distribution systems as the causes of current difficulties in some countries.
